Abstract

At present, on the molded case circuit breakers for the medium ranges, most of contact materials have been usually composed of Ag-Ni or Ag-Graphite series materials. The demands on the electric contact material increase more than ever along with miniaturization and high-efficiency of equipment and further improvement of the contact performance is required.
This report introduces the effect of sintering conditions on the arc erosion properties of electric contact materials of Ag-Ni, Ag-Graphite series. If the amount of residual carbon in the contact decreases the contact shows high wear resistance.
