Precision press die parts for punching copper-based materials used for connectors and lead frames etc. are mostly made of cemented carbide.
However, in high-speed press production, for example at speeds exceeding 1,000 spm, with cemented carbide die parts, copper adheres to the die, resulting in shortened die life and product defects. In addition, the frequency of die maintenance, such as regrinding, increases, resulting in lower productivity.
Our ZrO-based ceramic material "NPZ-28" (our material name) solves these problems.
