Twin-screw extruders, which are used in the production of high-performance plastics, experience serious wear owing to the addition of hard fillers and flame retardants. Following the launch of MZ01, which exhibits acceptable corrosion and wear resistance, in 2020, the need for a similar material with even better corrosion resistance arose. In this study, we developed such a material, hereafter referred to as MZ‡U, through the optimization of alloy composition. Compared with MZ01, MZ‡U demonstrates several times greater corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and hydrochloric acid and approximately 50 times greater corrosion resistance in phosphoric acid. Thus, MZ‡U can extend the lifespan of components used in compound production.
